Retreat Center Recommendations

Philadelphia:

Ace Conference Center

800 Ridge Pike
Lafayette Hill, PA 19444
(610) 825-8000

Top notch, if your budget permits.  I was there a couple of times with groups of 100 or so.

My favorite in the area always has been the Ace Conference Center

  • Great conference rooms, equipment, and grounds for nice walking breaks
  • Built in dining with good food (not 5 star but good although I heard Wolfgang Puck is now catering)
  • Fantastic golf course (difficult)
  • Easy access to CC and Conshohocken for some good alternate restaurants
  • Accommodations for overnight guests

Greater Philadelphia:

Bear Creek Mountain Resort

http://bcmountainresort.com/

101 Doe Mountain Lane
Macungie, PA 18062
1-866-754-2822 |
info@bcmr.com

The resort runs a good show for conferences. It’s located outside of Macungie, a little over an hour’s drive from the Philadelphia airport.

A client of mine recently ran a leadership/strategic planning event there. Food is good, staff is considerate and helpful, environment is very comfortable with plenty of break-out space.· A key downside – there is nothing to do outside the resort unless you go to Bethlehem (about 30 minutes).  But depending on the season, there is light skiing or nice hikes nearby.

The Glasbern Inn (Allentown, PA)

http://www.glasbern.com/welcome.htm

It is in the Allentown area, but the The Glasbern is a great out of the way place (about an hour from Philadelphia) based around a farm, with a wonderful restaurant, nice meeting room and then rooms spread out around the restaurant/meeting room building.

I have had two executive retreats there when I lived/worked in the area. It was quiet, great rooms and the farm to table food was wonderful.

Lots of things to do – especially toward leadership team building.

  • GM was trained by Disney and does a great job. I have stayed there many times – the “business” side o f the house is a recent (last 10 years) and significant investment.
  • Creates a great presence and is truly a unique atmosphere.
  • It has skiiing, it’s own pro golf course, indoor pools, great dining,…
  • Offers a choice of venues for your size group.
