Frequently Asked Questions
Answers for Tech Leadership Teams Considering Our Programs
About LearnWell & Our Approach
What does LearnWell actually do?
We build decision-making infrastructure for growth-stage tech companies. When companies scale from 50 to 500 employees, the informal alignment that worked early on breaks down. We solve this by installing frameworks, decision rights, and coordination mechanisms that make alignment automatic instead of effortful.
How is this different from executive coaching?
Executive coaching develops individual leaders. We develop the operating system that connects your leaders. If your individual leaders are strong but the team doesn’t coordinate well, you have an infrastructure problem, not a capability problem. That’s what we address.
How is this different from leadership training?
Training teaches skills to individuals. We install systems that change how your team operates together. After our programs, the team has new frameworks, decision rights, and coordination mechanisms that persist whether any individual is in the room or not.
What size companies do you work with?
We specialize in growth-stage tech companies with 50-1,500 employees. This is where informal alignment breaks down but formal bureaucracy isn’t yet necessary. The 50-1,500 range is where our frameworks deliver the most leverage.
How do you measure results?
We track outcomes that matter operationally: Decision Velocity (measured in days), Rework Rate, Executive Time Recovery (4-8 hours/week per leader typically), and Escalation Volume (typically drops 40-60%). We take baseline measurements at the start of every engagement.
What’s your success rate?
87% of teams who implement our frameworks report 40%+ time recovery within 90 days. That’s based on 125+ leadership teams in growth-stage tech companies. We’re transparent about fit—not every problem is an alignment problem.
Program-Specific Questions
We don’t have time for an 8-week program.
The Alignment Accelerator requires 60 minutes per week per leader. The frameworks you build during those 60 minutes eliminate hours of back-and-forth on decisions. Most teams report net time savings by Week 4.
What if we try to do this ourselves?
Many strong teams try. Internal efforts typically take 6-12 months and often don’t stick. Our programs install proven systems in 4-8 weeks with external accountability. The opportunity cost of delayed action is real: $280K-$420K per leader annually.
What if the Assessment reveals we don’t need further help?
That’s a great outcome. 60% of teams who complete the Assessment self-execute using the roadmap we provide. We’re not in the business of recommending programs people don’t need.
What’s the ROI on the Accelerator?
If alignment overhead consumes 8-12 hours weekly per leader (20-30% of capacity), that’s $80K-$120K per leader in lost productivity. For a team of 6 leaders, recovering even 50% delivers $240K-$360K in year one—7-11x ROI on a $32K investment.
Common Myths vs. Reality
MYTH: “We don’t have time for leadership development.”
REALITY: You don’t have time NOT to do it. The average executive loses 8-12 hours weekly to alignment overhead—20-30% of capacity. Effective development eliminates time burden rather than adding it.
MYTH: “Strong individuals create strong teams.”
REALITY: Strong individuals with weak coordination systems create frustrated, underperforming teams. Individual capability is necessary but not sufficient.
MYTH: “Alignment problems are communication problems.”
REALITY: They’re infrastructure problems that manifest as communication problems. You can’t communicate your way out of missing decision rights or undefined escalation paths.
MYTH: “Team offsites create lasting alignment.”
REALITY: Offsites create alignment in the moment. Within 2-3 weeks, everything is back to normal. Alignment requires infrastructure that persists between events.
